WHEN FAMILIES ARE STRONG, CANADA IS STRONG
HELPING FAMILIES GET AHEAD WITH THE CANADA CHILD BENEFIT
Starting this month, families across Canada will see more money in their pockets through the increased Canada Child Benefit (CCB) — a monthly, tax-free payment that helps parents cover the essentials like groceries, school supplies, and child care.
New maximum annual amounts:
Up to $7,997 per child under age 6
Up to $6,748 per child aged 6 through 17
For example: a family with one child aged 5 and one aged 9, and a net income of $65,000, will receive about $11,000 this year — roughly $500 more than last year.
The CCB is adjusted every July to keep pace with the cost of living, ensuring stable and predictable support that families can count on.
Key facts:
Over $26 billion in tax-free payments go to families every year.
The CCB has helped lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.
3.5 million families and over 6 million children benefit annually.
Payment amounts depend on your family’s net income, number of children, and their ages.
This increase is part of our government’s commitment to bring down costs for families — alongside initiatives like the National School Food Program and Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care.
When families are strong, Canada is strong.
