BURNABY CENTRAL
Burnaby Central is the heart of our city — a community that blends busy urban hubs with quiet residential neighbourhoods, and where people from every background call the same place home. It stretches from the high-rises and shops of Metrotown, to the tree-lined streets near Central Park, to the family homes of Brentwood, and the quiet neighbors in Edmonds.
This riding is home to some of Burnaby’s most well-known landmarks and gathering places: Metrotown, Crystal Mall, Central Park, Deer Lake Park, BCIT, Burnaby Hospital, and cultural institutions like the Burnaby Village Museum.
Local businesses thrive along Kingsway, Lougheed Highway, and Canada Way, while SkyTrain stations at Metrotown, Patterson, and Brentwood keep the community connected across the region.
Life here is vibrant, but it also comes with challenges we all feel — from the rising cost of housing and groceries, to busy roads like Willingdon and Kingsway, to the need for more public transit as our population grows. At the same time, Burnaby Central’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. East Asian, South Asian, Filipino, Persian, and many other communities have built deep roots here, bringing languages, traditions, and businesses that make our neighbourhoods stronger.
It’s a place where people look out for one another — whether it’s neighbours helping shovel a sidewalk in winter, volunteers running a cultural festival, or small businesses sponsoring local sports teams. Burnaby Central is more than just a set of neighbourhoods on a map. It’s a community built on shared spaces, shared stories, and the belief that we are better when we work together.
